As a body of believers, our aim is to Reach and Equip students to Walk with Jesus for a Lifetime.
Sunday Mornings / LifeGroups
First Student Ministry meets in small, age graded for Bible study Sunday mornings that we call LifeGroups. We are striving to teach students all of the Bible in a way they can understand and will prepare them, as Peter urged in 1 Peter 3:15, to always be prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you. We are currently teaching through the Explore the Bible Curriculum by Lifeway.
9:30am – 7th-12th grade Bible Study
7th & 8th Grade LifeGroup: Room 211
9th & 10th Grade LifeGroup: Room 210
11th & 12th Grade LifeGroup: Room 214
10:45am – Worship Service
Wednesday Evening / MIDWEEK
6:00pm – 7:30pm – Midweek meets in the Cafe
Our students meet together in
the Cafe on the second floor of the Family Ministry Center for an energizing time of fun, fellowship and message from God’s Word. It’s the perfect opportunity to bring a friend, get some encouragement and connect with others. Midweek also offers students a place to serve and lead through Mpact Ministry Teams. Students can join the Tech Team, Worship Team or Connection Team and serve among their peers on Wednesday nights.
Sunday Nights / Passport Student Discipleship
Passport Student Discipleship helps students dig deeper into the Word of God for a comprehensive study of important doctrines and topics that will equip students to walk with Jesus for a lifetime. Nothing prepares a student for life after high school better than a thorough knowledge of the Bible. Passport helps students continue to build confidence in their faith by building confidence in the truth of scripture. See our schedule of current study dates and times or email Jon Hicks at firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
Student Minister: Jon Hicks
First Student Ministry is led by Jon Hicks. Called to ministry as a junior in high school Jon has been doing ministry in various ways ever since. He is a graduate of Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is blessed with an amazing wife, Jenny, who teaches high school math and is also known as world’s greatest mom to their daughters, Maggie and Paige.
Jon is into reading as much as he can, adding to his collection of music, rooting for the Astros, Texans and Rockets, playing softball with the guys at church, and hanging out with all three of his girls. If he can do all of that while eating a Freebird Burrito, life is good.
