REFUGE 2019 / JAN. 11TH-13TH
Refuge is a retreat for 7th through 12th graders focused on discipleship, worship, and fellowship. It takes place at Cat Spring Retreat 40 miles east of Katy just off I-10. There students will engage in worship, hear preaching, and participate in small group Bible Study, not to mention night games, rec, free time, smores by the campfire, and oh yeah, the midnight Sundae Bar!!
During the two night retreat, students are broken down into small groups based on gender and age and are taught by some of the best small group leaders around. These leaders are trusted college age students who come from across Texas to pour encouragement and biblical truth into the lives of our teens.
Refuge weekend costs $70 per student. This is all inclusive: transportation, food, materials and t-shirt. We also ask that students contribute a 2 liter of their favorite drink and a snack to share with the group.
Speaking this year will be John Roselle. John is a good friend of Katy’s First, serving as a summer intern in 2013. John is a graduate of Liberty University’s divinity school and is the student minister at his home church, Plainedge Baptist Church, in Long Island, NY. His wife Johanna will also be joining us. She is a teacher in Queens, NY and a great partner in ministry to her husband.
Leading us in worship this year will be Trent Murray and Garrett Ullrich. Trent is the worship leader at FBC Iowa Park and a former FBC Katy summer intern. Garrett is a member of Katy’s First and a student at Texas A&M Commerce. He leads worship at the campus BSM and at local churches.
If you have questions please email student minister, Jon Hicks at firstname.lastname@example.org.
